I am referring to the Genius feature in iTunes, of course. Due to technical difficulties, I’ve not had use of my computer for the last week or so – thus, no Tuesday Tens, which I enjoy even if no one else does. As of today, the computer has been revived! I never realized the full use of the Genius feature, then today I decided to make a Genius playlist (or two). If you are unfamiliar with the feature, you pick a song, then the iTunes Genius finds other songs in your library that sound good with the song you choose. The first list I made came up with songs that have been featured on Grey’s Anatomy, no surprise since I picked a song that was featured on the show – that’s not genius! Here is the list that came up when I used Sometime Around Midnight by Airborne Toxic Event. (It’s a long list, but I’ve missed two weeks of Tuesday Tens!)

1. Sometime Around Midnight – Airborne Toxic Event

2. Home – Great Northern

3. Nausea – Beck

4. Straight Lines – Silverchair

5. Evil – Interpol

6. Sometimes Always – The Jesus & Mary Chain

7. How We Operate – Gomez

8. Turpentine – Brandi Carlile

9. Malibu – Hole

10. Caught By The River – Doves

11. Nearly Lost You – Screaming Trees

12. Dig – Incubus

13. Madly – Tristan Prettyman

14. Time To Pretend (Radio Version) – MGMT

15. Maps – Yeah Yeah Yeahs

16. Landslide – Smashing Pumpkins

17. Only Happy When It Rains – Garbage

18. Untitled – Interpol

19. Hang Me Up To Dry – Cold War Kids

20. Discipline – Nine Inch Nails

21. 23 – Blonde Redhead

22. Rise Above This – Seether

23. Keep The Car Running – Arcade Fire

24. Life Is Beautiful – Vega4

25. Lost! – Coldplay

Interesting, very interesting! I can see how some of these songs are associated with my original pick, but others are real head-scratchers. Hmmm.

Oh, oh, oh, exciting news!!!!! My first pick for a PA program has contacted me for an interview!!!! I am so excited!!!!

On the knitting front – my pictures of Pink all came out blurry. I posted the least blurry of the pictures on my project page in Ravelry. I hope to get some good pictures soon. Maybe I need a new camera. . .

I do need a new phone because the one I have now has about 3 hours of standby time and 10 minutes of talk time, and trying to get my hot little hands on one has proven to be frustrating. I had finally decided on the LG Venus – only $49.99 online after a mail-in rebate. So I went to a store to get the phone, and they’re selling it for $69.99, no mail-in rebate. So I inquire about the difference, and the salesperson looks at some laminated sheet and says, “Yup, it’s a better deal online!” I think I already knew the answer to the next question, but I had to ask, “So, you can’t match the price online?” “Nope!” was the reply. So I walked out of the store. (See, this is why businesses don’t deserve any bailouts – if you want to make money, act as though you actually want to sell stuff.** First day of class in Marketing 101, right there!)

So now, Target is selling this phone for $39.99, while online it is $99.99 after a mail-in rebate (it was, of course, more expensive in the Verizon store). So what gives? Did they fall off the back of a truck? And does Target carry the phone in the maroon color? You’d think they would, right? 😉

**I know Verizon Wireless does not need a bailout. They should never need a bailout.
